Bevelling Machine




Beveling machines are designed to perform bevels or chamfers on heavy metal plates using milling cutters. These machines are also known as chamfering machines. These machines are built to operate at maximum capacity providing high quality bevels whilst maintaining the optimum position of plates vis-a-vis machine, eliminating wasted time and costs throughout the entire sheet metal welding preparation process.

Beveling machine are useful in various Industrial Applications:

• The preparation of sheet metal parts for welding process.
• Aesthetic reasons and Safety reasons for remove sharp edges.
• Machined bevels finishing, angles from 15° to 70°.

The choice of a Bevelling machine is based on several factors including the elements size, the bevel dimension, the finish quality and the type of material to be bevelled.

Causes of Vibration in Bevelling Machines

During the bevelling/chamfering process, the milling cutter has to enter the metal workpiece either from the boundary or from the top unmachined surface. This first contact of the cutter on the metal surface produces impact vibrations because unlike the stable cutting process, the contact between cutter and machined workpiece changes significantly in the entering process. Additionally. due to the change of machining sequence/cutter or the variation of cutting depth results in excessive vibration thus leaving marks on the machined surface.


The Need for Air Springs in Bevelling Machines

In addition to damping the vibrations produced during the bevelling process, the air springs also act as heavy-duty lifting systems for large thickness Milling Cutting Bevelling Machines. These machines require the work piece to be fed automatically into the milling cutter with a pre-determined upward force to produce a constant belling even on uneven metal surfaces. Rubber Temperature and quality
The air springs can be manufactured with different rubber qualities:

Standard: Most used material for industry.
Temperature range= -40ºC to +70ºC.

Butyl (IIR): Highly used material because of its good resistance to acids.
Temperature range= -25ºC to +90ºC.

Nitrile (NBR): For applications where oil can be found thanks to its excellent resistance to oils, fuels, ozone and weather.
Temperature range= -25ºC to +110ºC

Ethylene propylene diene (EPDM): Material with excellent resistance to high temperatures.
Temperature range= -20ºC to +115ºC

Chloroprene (CR): Resistant to the sea water and medium resistance to acids.
Temperature range= -20ºC to +110ºC

Metallic parts materials
The metallic parts of the air springs can be supplied in different qualities. The standard in most air springs is steel with anti-rust protection, but they can also be supplied in AISI-304 stainless steel (other qualities available are easily available upon request).
